Bank Holiday Fun #BEDM

Hello Lovelies!

As you are reading this we will be heading off for our day of fun at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (or the La'al Ratty as it is known round these parts)!!

A bit about it from their website:
The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in England, known affectionately as La’al Ratty meaning “ little railway “ in olde Cumbrian dialect. It was 100 years ago in April 1913 that the original 3ft line closed and in 1915 the new 15in La’al Ratty was born. The heritage steam engines transport passengers from Ravenglass , the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park and of huge significance in Roman times, being a significant last defence point of the infamous Hadrians Wall, to Dalegarth for Boot some 210ft above sea level.

We used to live near Ravenglass when we were little and I have many fond memories of spending the day on the railway, having a picnic in the park, playing in the park. I look back at photos of those times and try to remember the smell of the railway, the noise of the trains, the feeling of excitement I had waiting for the train to arrive.

I hope that this blog can serve as a reminder for Zoe when she grows up and wants to, needs to remember her youth, the fun she had with us, and the memories we made.

Ooh got a bit deep there - sorry!

  1. I think the babies of bloggers are a really lucky bunch - they're going to have such well documented childhoods! Although perhaps they'll be less pleased about their potty training advances (or not) and embarrassing moments being broadcast to the world which I've seen on other blogs... Win some lose some :p xxx
